I had this happen to me. It sounds like you've got a hole in the clutch hydraulic line. Your mechanic should be able to spot it pretty quicky and fixing it should be around $100 to replace the line.
The clutch uses the same resevoir as the brake fluid. There is a partition in the brake fluid resevoir which, when this happens, prevents all the brake fluid from running out the clutch line.
If this happened with no warning, I don't think it would be the master or slave. When the clutch line fails you suddenly get a limp pedal.
