'89 Turbo, lwr rad hose, change on the road?

I am prepping my SPG for cross-country adventure next week. All my coolant hoses look fine, feel right, no leaks, but I do not know their age. Car was very well maintained by 2 prev owners, but few records. I don't intend to pack ALL hoses for the trip, but which are the most vulnerable, most often fail? Think I should buy the one that fails the most - anyone have experience?
Second, that long lower hose disappears at the radiator. How do I get at the front clamp? From top, beneath? Remove what? Can this be changed at Motel 6 in Lincoln, NE? Or should I replace it before I leave Seattle?
Thanks a bunch, y'all.
