I did all of mine a couple of years age. I don't recall the radiator connection being that tough. Your more difficult connection is the other end that runs up to the back of the water pump. I found that removing the coolant reservoir, the plastic "T" valve in the heater hose connections and the smaller hoses, plus disconnecting one bolt on a tab that holds down a metal pipe under the intake runners (fuel rail?, coolant bypass?) and swinging that out of the way, permitted me to get my hand under the intake runners to remove and reinstall the large hose end. Make sure everything is dry before putting the new hoses on.
If the hose looks ok, then just carry one with you. But I would replace the upper radiator hoses and the small elbow shaped hose at the front of the head. You may also want to throw in a new thermostat as they can fail more frequently than the hoses. Good luck on your trip.
