Just finished installing the rears (SAAB original SPG equipment) after 170k km on 1991 SPG. Encountered some misery pressing the rubber bushings in place and later trying to squeeze the new shocks in the bottom bracket. Finally figured out that back and forth motion with a screw driver will do the job. Not looking forward to the fronts but perhaps they aren't seized yet. Should add that the shocks were changed once already three years ago but that's another story. I'm intrigued by the $8 socket. No idea waht you fellows are talking about.
