I've read the discussions regarding synth 10w30 being to slippery - esp. Mobil1, but I couldn't tell the difference (even with new syncros after my latest rebuild). Some (can't recall source or post) have speculated that the syncro additive in Redline may be detrimental to the pinions. I don't know.

Yes, the tranny is a heat sink, but it's nothing like the engine heat and shear wear on the oil.

Indy's I know recommend changing the fluid. That Saab bulletin regarding not changing has always perplexed me. Wonder if it was just safer, from liability/recall stance, for Saab to not specify a change. Some have speculated that changing it washes out (and into the gears/bearings) settled bits of non-ferrous metal, but still, what's worse? Built up particles or the risk of disturbing them. Changing after a good flush or rebuild, this shouldn't be a factor.

Keep rolling on the Honda - keep the BB posted on seasonal changes and break in, etc. The stuff just made me too uncomfortable when it was hot/thin. Tranny paranoia I suppose.
