contortionist) is to loosen the pinch bolt that connects the coupling to the shifter side of the shift rod.
I've loosened the pinch bolt two ways:
- from behind the steering rack. It needed a few universal joints and a few extensions.
- from the engine side. I got under the passenger side of the car, put my left arm between the downpipe and the engine, threaded my hand far back enough to get a socket on the pinch bolt.
IIRC, its a 12-mm nut on the pinch bolt.
I can't say whether method 2 will work well on a non-turbo, but it may well. It probably helps to wear a 34 or 36 sleeve :-)
I looked back at your old posts about swapping a turbo engine in place of the N/A engine. One thing to note is that the turbo engine is a DOG without having a functioning APC. If you can put up with a little better than base boost for a while, until we can work a way to add an APC to an EZK ignition system, it'll be adequate.
