you can adjust the kick down cable at the throttle plate. one of the cables is from the accelerater pedal, the other cable goes to the tranny. small adjustments are appropriate. sounds like the tranny thinks you are pushing it hard, so decrease the length of the cable. simple lock nut and barrel length adjustment. my tranny is not in good shape, but i can get a shift in normal driving close to 40.
