Hi everyone, I have been a Saab FANATIC since I was 16, and have owned many Saabs since. My question is, what made the Saab 900 trannys so bad? Was it just general design flaws, lack of maintenance or what. The reason I am asking is, I bought my dream Saab last year, a late 1993 900 series from the original owner, with a 5 year old dead inspection sticker, that had sat in a parking garage covered for years with only 30,000 miles on the clock! I have since changed every fluid including pulling the rear plate off of the trans and changing the oil out with fresh 10w40. The car is new, it stays in my garage most of the time, I am not kidding when I tell you that there is only 1 small chip on the roof of all places. I have installed a lot of NOS accessories that I have bought over the years while looking for this exact car! The reason for this post is are there any ways to prolong a Saab 5speed trans, or just wait till it dies, because it will eventually, every single Saab I have ever owned has had trans issues! My last one only had 77,000 1 owner miles and the pinion bearing went! The one before that had 145,000 1 owner miles and reverse crapped out, the one before that had 120,000 and popped out of gear all the time, then the trans went all together, I checked the linkage, and it was an internal issue! Any words of wisdom would be great! Thanks a million. The car is not "for sale" but it just sits in my garage, it is a show winning car, so any offers are taken! Thanks for reading, Matt
