Hi Dana Thanks for inputs. my ignition contol unit (6pin) just failed. i wonder if this was my weak spark problem. this signal goes to the coil right? i did the last test in the bentley for ignition checks and noticed it went to 2 volts but never decreased to zero volts (switching voltage). hence no signal to fuel pump relay. I have checked fuel pressures all types test good (withinin specs) i noticed in bentley that this - coil lead connects to the ignition, the apc and the ci fuel systems in some way. could the failing ignition control unit along with a failing coil cause my rich fuel problem. i pulled of my plugs and the black soot blew right off. i just do not think that the plugs are getting the proper voltage. also with the ignition switch in the run position i get 12volts from the switch to the (-)lead on the coil. this is a weird problem i noticed a couple of times before this that some times with the ignition switch in the run position that i would get no power to anything not even the interior lights took the key out started again and the lights worked and the car started. do you know how to check a coil for voltage output. can it even be done. also i did the ohm check between (+)15 and(-)1 on the coil and it was consitantly 1.7ohms hot or cold the book calls for .4 - .9ohms. i went to the parts store and the stock coil was 1.7 ohms. is the book wrong or is the coil shot. hope you reply been fun so far. chow
