Micah,
the troubles with the brake (front) are more serious than expected. As the brake disc was 'red' after my testdrive the workshop will renew all moving parts in the front hub for saftey reasons. Also all brake parts - using original Saab parts. Other ones are not available. The guys from that shop won't work with parts I delivered for my poor Saab. He's always using genuine Saab parts... And the brake master cylinder/servo unit has to be renewed.
Cold starting: Can't start the engine without giving full throttle while starting. Motor will fire up - for about 3-6 seconds. Stalling. Starting again, engine will idle at about 750-850rpm. Engaging 'D' (automatic) the engine will stall again. Restart. Engaging 'D', Saab will move very slowly for the next 10meters. Running rough, very rough.
I replaced now: fuel filter, HT leads, spark plugs, dizzy cap and rotor, coil, fuel metering distributor (very expensive), injectors, fuel lines, fuel pump, cold start valve, bypass valve. Cleaned very carefully throttle body. New cable from pedal to throttle. Cleaned the fuel tank (old water/dirt). Checked the fuel-back-line to the tank. Airfilter. Tried 100 Octane fuel.
No success at all. K-Jettronic is starting in the common old style. If warmed up, engine has idling speed around 900, uneven.
All (!) vaccuum hoses are new, together will vaccuum grommets! New Valve Cover seal. Engine is oil tight (small leakage at the main pulley seal, 3-5 drops each week). New oil dipstick seal.
Went to three Volkswagen Workshops for tune up - same as before. Saab is running on 0.8 - 1.0 % CO2. No catalyst. No Oxgen Sensor. Now the electric device on the left inner wing will be replaced (the 'mind' of the CIS) Again EUR 840.00.
Got struck doing the front brake, I'm now afraid doing more damage to the Saab. First time with fuel injected cars.
BTW Saab is heavy on fuel 13-15mpg (imperial gallons). I'm driving normal, not like a race champion.
Thank you for your advice.
Will check that next day again. Need to drive to the workshop before.
