I can understand your frustration with this. Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Update and new questions (of course)..., Julia, Tue, 29 Jul 2003 07:02:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The O2 sensor is about 6 inches away from the passenger-side rear mount, on the underside of the downpipe. IIRC, you said that this is a 900S, not a Turbo, right? If it's a turbo, it's on the underside of the turbo discharge elbow. But I remember you saying that it was a '93 900S.
Take a look at the O2 sensor connector. You'll see a black cable coming up from the exhaust downpipe to a location on the the passenger-side inner fender. The cable will split off into two sets of wires - 2 of them are white and one is black (or maybe it's the other way around - color dislexia). The wires go to two connectors in front of the spring tower. The black one (or the one that's a different color than the other two) will have a rubber boot on the end of it and will go into a tan connector (at least it's tan on my '89.) Roll back that rubber boot and you'll see a flat electrical connector. Pull on it and see if it's solidly connected. If not, that's the problem.
If you don't see any wire coming up from the sensor, that's the problem, too.
Is this shop the only show in town or are you stuck with them up there in the wilds of Maine?
Sorry about not getting back with an explanation of the other things, my Sunday got eaten up by all sorts of unexpected things, including going into the office to prepare some drawings for a Monday meeting. Boo, Hiss!
If you've done things like changing spark plugs by this point in your SAAB days, pull one of the sark plugs and let us know if the plug is covered with black soot.
