is to find a good stiff wire of the size and length necessary to keep those springs compressed as if the slave worked to compress the springs (standard proceedure for slave removal when replacing the clutch disc). Then I'd bang the wire down in between the spring and clutch housing with a large flat end screwdriver designed for hammering. Older screwdrivers I know have a metal tip end on the handle for just such chores. A longish chisel should work just as well. Hammering downward (along one or the other side of the slave release bearing) would provide the most leverage and once the first inch is in place, you simply rotate the flywheel as you go. Household copper ground wire is a good diameter wire. Spark plug lead wire might be too large in diameter to bang down in there, and it also might not be able to withstand the hammering. Something more rigid than that is needed. Something around 1/4 (6mm) diameter should do it. If the large wire is too difficult to hammer in, a smaller diameter wire can be used first, followed by the larger.
If you're replacing the slave, sawing off that piston cylinder is also a very good idea, keeping in mind that the clutch shaft must first be extracted. I've heard of using a sawzall with a long metal blade to do the sawing.
