The little knob is not tdc, and if you turn the flywheel a little farther you will see the hash marks with 0, 10, 20 degrees scribed into the edge. I'm not sure if the knob is far enough off to cause bent valves, but it certainly could screw up compression. Given Murphy's Law you bent the valves, but maybe not.

Anyway, i would first pull the valve cover and find true top dead center for the #1 cylinder. TDC occurs every 2 revolutions of the engine and the #1 piston will be at the top of its stroke for both the exhaust stroke and the compression stroke. All valves for #1 will be closed at TDC. i don't think you'll be that far off. Redo the cam sprockets so the marks line up at 0 degrees TDC on the flywheel. Once you get that done recheck the compression. If all is Ok and the valves travel freely you might be OK
