Early symptoms of master cylinder failure, perhaps >

Daniel,
I hate to say it, but this sounds like very early signs of brake master cylinder failure. Either that, or air in the system somewhere.
My previous '84 S, now parts car for "new" '84 S, did something similiar. I took mine to site sponsor Townsend Imports and Tom tracked the problem to the master cylinder.
I don't know how long you'd have before your master cylinder totally "goes." The end is probably near for it, alas.
How long ago was the fluid bled? If the tech who did the bleeding didn't do "pressure" bleeding--applying pressure at brake fluid reservoir--and instead just pumped the pedal to bleed the brakes, then that might be the reason your master cylinder is going bad. Why? Well, if your master cylinder piston is pushed farther than its usual zone of travel, say, when you bleed the brakes and push pedal down farther than during normal braking, the piston's seals enter territory where gunk/corrosion has built up inside the cylinder's bore.
This phenomenon has happened enough that Popular Mechanics had a "Satuday Mechanic" section about it a few years back. It's not peculiar to SAABs, either. It could happen to any vehicle with hydraulic brakes.
