I think I know your car...if you have the 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator change it back to a 2.5. The yellow silicon vacuum hose shouldn't matter. If the smog station tells you the yellow hose is not smog legal then it's not. They would have told you that when you took it to smog and you would have failed on a visual. Why the new aftermarket cat.? I have another oem cat you could try.

My '89 SPG just passed smog. I took off all the Group9 parts and put everything back to stock. I bought this LubroMoly fuel injection system cleaner from IPD in WA. It is suppossed to lower emissions. Poured it into my gas tank and filled the tank then drove the car for several days. On the day I took it to smog I drove it on the freeway and got the car real warm. Pulled into the smog station and did not shut the car off. It passed with really low numbers.

A fuel pressure reg. leak or injector leak isn't going to make you fail smog, although it won't help. Plus you would smell gas. Did you cahnge your oil/filter, plugs, dist. cap, rotor, and check your timing? I would start there.

Don't bring your car to the dealer. Since the laws have changed for smog, if you bring your car into a shop and say it won't pass smog, can you adjust it? The shop can't touch your car. If you bring it in and say my timing needs to be adjusted then they can look at it. I would start with the basics and then add the fuel injection cleaner.

E-mail me direct if you need help.

Good luck.

Cliff
