inner driver quality control questions (a little long)

So I've finally removed the inner driver on the hot side of the car and it was as bad as expected. One of the things I believed was a problem was that the "can" which is pressed over the single-piece, cast and milled driver twists a few mm's, and I thought this is what caused the grease to leak out. My replacement (salvage) did not do this, but when I degreased and blew it out, it rotated, as well. Is this normal? Should I press it together a little tighter? Maybe just squeeze some old crusty grease and dirt back in between?
Another thing is that I heard on this board that the length of the inner driver changed when Saab switched to vented rotors. My car has vented rotors, and the donor car did not. I've crudely determined that my former driver is approximately .483 mm longer. I don't think this is a problem, as the tripod bearing slides back and forth anyways, but just making sure.
I also grabbed the solid rotors from the donor car, as they were meaty and seemed true, passing the "turn by hand in the brake" test. Will they be compatible with the hubs and calipers that had the vented rotors on them?
Thanks in Advance,
Adam Doerwald
