With that many miles I wouldn't pay more than $1,500. to $1,800. for it, and that's if it doesn't need a thing. If you're unfamiliar with Saabs, have a mechanic look the car over. It's not unusual to end up needing a repair that would cost two or three time the value of the car. I would have no qualms about owning a Saab with 154,000 miles on it (assuming the price was a real steal), but it will be almost impossible to resell. Let's face it, every moving part on this car that hasn't been replaced is probably near to being replaced. For a few hundred dollars more you might find one with considerbly fewer miles which could save you thousands in repairs. The thing about Saabs and other European cars is that the bodies and interiors will still look so nice at 150K that you get lulled into a false sense of security. Saabs will easily last 300K or more, but at a price. Just be sure you are willing and able to pay it. Ultimately driving this car another 100k will cost you less than just one year of depreciation on a new car--but bear in mind that there is no free lunch when it comes to cars.
