All the ancillary components check out fine. It might surprise you to know I was able to start it briefly yesterday. Same extreme difficulty turning over accompanied by a worsening metallic squeel. Of course, I could be making this all up just so I have an excuse to implant a 16V ;) Yeah, I've got one lined up already. An automatic with 103K miles on it, water cooled turbo. The auto tranny will be unbolted and left at the scrap yard. The best part is that it's "half off" day at the particular yard I'm getting it from. I even have a willing friend with a truck to help with the transport and various assistant duties throughout the swap. For pay, of course. The plan is to have this swap complete in two days.
