They take me about a minute to put on or take off. I store them in the back of the car until I need them. I prefer not to have them on the car because I like the sunroof so much(otherwise its noisy and I don't want a fairing). I did get a couple scratches on the rain gutter from over tightening the rack but I now avoid doing this. Also, having rain gutters on these cars makes it pretty straight forward and also very sturdy for a rack. I too use the Yakima setup.
