SPG's battery light dim, new battery

This past weekend my 1990 SPG's battery light came on very dim while I was in traffic. Reved the engine, and it went off. The other night, it came on and didn't turn off with revving (other than the dim battery light, all else was normal). My car ended up stalling out while I was in first, and was dead. After being jumped, I drove 1 mile home - my lights were all dimmed, the anti-lock brake light came on, and the car was very very jerky. When I put it in reverse to park, it stalled out again. The battery tested as good, but with a very low charge. I installed a new battery last night (better safe than sorry), and the car starts fine, but the battery light won't go off unless the car is revved multiple times. It also hesitates very slightly for a second when in neutral and rpm's go below 2000. The voltage on the battery is between 11 and 12.
I've read similiar accounts elsewhere, and many times people think its the voltage regulator brushings. I'm taking it to my Saab guy Saturday morning, but in the meantime, does this sound like a "DO NOT DRIVE" situation? Also, does it sound like the voltage regulator brushings?
