It is not uncommon to wear out the ignition lock before the door locks, especially if dirt gets into the ignition. What I did was to have ONE KEY made with TWO key profiles... the door profile on one side, the ignition profile on the other. then I cut a small notch in the plastic on the ignition side so I would know which side was up for the ignition. After only a few missteps, putting the key in the proper way became second nature. BTW, have the key made by a Saab dealer or independent from genuine Saab blanks. They are much stronger and last much longer than the brass keys you buy at the hardware store.
