I just put a clutch in my 89Turbo last week. It is incredibly tight, even when everything is "by the book".

If you have a release wire keeping ALL the fingers depressed (wire should be at least 3mm diameter, solid or coated shouldn't matter), then you have it.

All I can tell you is this...it is tight, but will go. The new design slave cylinder has a spring inside the belows, and you must depress this spring a bit to get the release bearing flush with the end of the slave inside diameter (longest part). There is a position, I would estimate at 2 oclock as you look at the flywheel, where the whole assy. will just slide in (with release bearing held against spring). I've done 3 of these now and it only gets marginally better. It really helps if you hold the slave on the center of the clutch fingers and have a helper squeeze the assy. into position (my son & I did the last one). You might also turn the flywheel a bit to get the max. opening between the dowel pins to allow the clutch & disc a clear opening.

Small allens are a PITA....make sure to use thread sealant or leak oil from the primary drive chain. Try using needle nose channel locks to start turn the allens, then torque with L allen. Also have the helper hold the spring loaded slave bellows compressed (towards clutch) to give you a straight shot to thread the allens....I used a mirror to make sure the slave is in position over the threaded holes.
