You implied that a push start got the car running before, so let's begin with the starter. Check the connections first. If you have a voltmeter, check for constant battery voltage at the big starter cable connector on the back of the starter. This cable comes directly from the battery and I expect you will find 12.6 volts here. (touch negative/ground meter probe to the head and the pos probe to the stud on the starter)
Then look for a smaller (approx 12 gauge yellow/red stripe) wire connected to the starter on a spade connector. This wire comes from the ignition switch and powers the solenoid when you turn the key to start. Have a helper turn the key to start while you check for voltage at this connector. Since you heard a click, I expect you will find voltage here.
If all this checks out, the starter is probably shot. Look for the metal strap on the back of the starter. This strap burns through when the starter won't turn or has an internal short, but is getting power.
Starter replacement is very easy the second time. First time will take a couple of hours. You will need to remove a bolt or two from the clutch cover to be able to pry back the cover to get at the nuts that mount the starter. Be sure to disconnect the battery so sparks don't fly. Unbolt the starter bracket and remove the cables/wire from the starter. Then you can maneuver the starter out from under the intake runners. Remember wich spade the yellow wire connects to on the starter.
