Crack in Lower Control Arm

I had my car in a Saab shop last week for an unrelated repair when they told me the lower right control arm had a crack which I should replace immediately before it turns into a huge problem (they wanted $360 to install a new one).
I declined the work and took the car to another Saab shop this week and they had three mechanics inspect the lower control arm and none of them could find a crack.
The front right side does make a thud like noise going over bumpy roads but the second shop said that it was just a ball joint, nothing to do with the control arm.
I'm thinking of getting a third opinion from another Saab shop.
Any suggestions? If I put the car up on ramps, is it something I can inspect?
