If it has over 150k miles on the alternator, I'd suspect, along the lines that Talledage mentioned, the brushes on the voltage regulator are worn down to their service limit and get pushed into better contact with the slip rings when you blip the throttle. That's what the case was with my '88 900S when the it drained the battery one dark, wet, stormy night.
