I find that the MTL at change, 12-20K intervals, doesn't have crud build-up. I figure the synthetic holds up to the high temps of the transaxle/engine oil pan and does not develop the crud.
Why will you work up to extended interval? I work under the feeling that what causes some of the trouble in a manual trans is the development of metal worn off gears and synchros, then run thru the bearings and in the gear mesh. Frequent changes keeps this metal content down.
