1) That's what I thought: clean full syn equals no crud, right? If you go back thru my history, you'll see the car used gear oil almost exclusively, & that there was extensive flushing done prior to filling with BG Syncro Shift II full syn. The oil was draining clear & clean prior to the Auto-Rx app. I agree with you about full syn taking the heat better, but not about using gear oil in these trannies.

2) One of the local Saab indy garages told me they replace a LOT of C900 manual trannies. They SWEAR that the absolute best C900 manual tranny oil is RedLine MTL. Then they SWEAR that the MOST you can expect out of a Saab manual tranny, using the BEST oil (that would be MTL, right?) is 120k mi!!! THEN they told me that BG SS2 (what I was using prior to this whole change-over process) was what they used when nothing else worked! (Not to imply that they're contradictory or anything...)

3) I'm working my way back up to a factory-recommended interval, but using a more durable & protective dual-rated 5W-40 syn oil rather than a weak-kneed gasoline 10W-30 dino oil. This more robust oil will keep the gears & synchros from shedding as much metal, which protects & prolongs the life of the bearings & keeps me from wasting a lot of time, money & oil on frequent changes. Maybe. I'll see how it looks in another year (approx 10k mi) & make a decision at that time. If it looks good, I'll probably go to 20k mi before deciding on anything longer.
