Thanks for the concern, but everything's better now than it ever was with the PO. I'm now using "syn" lube (really only Grp3). The tranny's shifting better than when I bought it 6 yrs & 60k mi ago. The acres of info tell me gear oil is what to avoid (some more than others). The PO was a college student & changed the engine oil only when she got yelled at (usually around 8k mi intervals) & fixed problems only when they kept her from driving. If I followed her Saab-only mechanic's advice & stuck to 30k mi OCIs on gear oil, I'm sure I would've already replaced my tranny by now (175k mi).
