It's still a pushrod engine?? Dang!
Old SAABs are fine cars, especially given how long ago they were originally designed. I'm on my 5th C900, and have 2 of them in the driveway.
I drove my brother-in-law's 9^3 SS soon after he got it. It reminded me of my various C900s; the ride was firm and well-controlled, the seats were very similar (if a little wider to accommodate the generosity of age), but the low-end throttle response was better than my SPGs. I liked the dash ergonomics better than C900 dashes. (And, heck, I like radios with lots of buttons :-)
Would I want to work on it like I do for my 900s? Naaah - too much going on under the hood. As simple as we see them to be now, when our 900s were new, they were getting the same dread of repair that we have for the new ones.
I like to think of the C900 as being the C-47/DC-3 of the import automotive world - overdesigned and simple.
It kinda makes me wish that I had a huge barn to store parts and castoff 900s. Sort of the automotive equivalent of a cat lady.
