Similare Situation - 1988 Convertible

I bought a 1988 Saab turbo convertible in 2003, which only had 94K. The previous owner did a lot of work to the car and kept up well on the maintenance and repairs. I have had the car for about 16 months and have enjoyed two great summers with the it, with only minimal service. Mechanically, the car seems to run quite well. The only thing that I have identified thus far, as necessities, is some exhaust work, front-end work and the need for new tires. Do not know the extent of the front-end work, but I have some noises up there and it’s starting to feel a little loose in the suspension.
Ideally, I want to "gut out" the interior (except door panels), replace carpet, dash, leather seats, and center console. Not something I have the place for or time, but preliminary estimates are getting me close to 5K. I don’t really want to invest that kind of $$ for a car that is 16 years old - especially for just the interior - next thing you know, all kinds of mechanical things start to go wrong. Two years without any major repairs on a car that old is pretty good, so something is bound to happen, probably around the 100-120K mark. A new interior would really make the car though.
