I can't say how many times I have seen people overbid on Saabs on eBay. It seems the slicker the ad, with more pictures, the higher the price. I have seen auctions go higher than the "buy it now" price. It really can be a heartbreaker for someone looking for a bargain, when in the last 30 seconds, the price increases by hundreds.
Most of the times, these are sold sight unseen. It's great for the dealers, as they now have a MUCH larger base of suckers to draw from. Cars sell on eBay within a week, after sitting on their lots for months , with no local interest, often for a much higher price than they would have accepted locally.
Stay away from used-car lots, period! online or local.
