Apropos of no particular listing of anyone's Saab, it has seemed to me that there's need for a serious reality check by many owners on this site on the supposed miles their older Saabs have run. Almost no car in America is driven less than 15,000 miles a year, year in, year out, except city beaters and the rare Granny car. And it would probably be closer to accurate to say 20,000, given the constant increase in daily commute distances.
And, Saabs being fun to drive even in older condition, there's possible reason to even add more to the averages. This would put a 12 year old 1993 car at likely true miles on the road of a minimum 180,000, with more for each year older than that. Typical total mileages of 300,000-plus for even some 1990 and newer cars should be expected though few seem to be reported. The condition and problems of cars mentioned on this site would square with numbers like that more than with what some sellers, and buyers, are putting out.
Saabs' known tendency to odometer issues is probably a factor here. I think many cars have been running for years with slow-counting or non-counting odometers, with each successive owner telling the new buyer that it just quit recently.
Since their rugged hearts have incredible longevity maybe it's as well to believe these little fictions.
