Power spray to clean leaked fluids from new used car? Posted by arabiflora [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I want to 'clean the slate' on my new used car (93 900s NA sedan, auto). Having been under it recently to replace inner driver, I noticed a fair amount of engine spludge on tranny, differential, block, etc. I'm considering using a power washer and foamy bright (or equivalent-- superior alternatives welcome) to remove in order to determine if it is the accumulated residue from 122k miles or ongoing fluid leaks. I'll put on the hazmat suit and goggles to do so, which should protect me in the process. My question is what hazards should I beware of in this procedure that might harm the car? Are there particular safeguards to take before starting (disconnecting the battery would seem a reasonable precaution; bagging the alternator would be another)? Are there places where degreaser and/or pressurized water should never go? Is this the best way to achieve my goal?
TIA..
