I personally think that the power sprayer is overkill, but then again I don't have one! A regular engine degreaser and a garden hose always works for me. You don't want water in the distributor or AMM or alternator. I wrap them in plastic bags to keep them dry.
One trick is to do the bottom side first and to drop the crash shield under the trans. The shield should be cleaned and it opens up the bottom of the trans. Don't forget to get the "front" of the engine and the steering rack, pump, and hoses. I would be careful around the crank position sensor and not hit it with the power spray, but since I've never had a 900 with the cranks sensor, i'm not really sure.
After you get the majority cleaned, I would use some brake cleaner to get the remaining dirty spots.
