I'm an '85 owner and have the same problem.
Where's that connector located?
I just had my central locking give out because the wiring between the driver door switch and the connector next to the fuse box fell apart. One of the wires broke completely through where the door meets the body near the hinge.
In the past for the corroding wires problem (I first experienced it when having the alternator replaced) the indy I went to cut the wire at both ends and soldered-in a new wire using heat shrink over the connection.
I'm going to simply replace the entire run of wiring from my driver door switch to the connector next to the fuse box with one I take off a salvaged later-model 900.
I understand from my indy that the 900 only had this wiring corrosion problem between '85 and '87.
Just FYI on my car I've also lost all the insulation off the wires to the APC solenoid and the wire that goes from the knock sensor on the block and disappears somewhere into the inside of the car apparently has got insulation coming off in areas.
What I would LOVE is to rebuild all these cables one-by-one but I don't have a source for the connectors, wiring (with proper 1 mm^2 cross section and colors), and pins. I'm details-oriented (OCD).
If I could get my hands on a brand-new OEM replacement wiring loom I'd consider it, but I understand they cost over $1,000 even when Saab still stocked them.
