Dash warning bulb subtleties are beyond me but otherwise the symptoms sound like classic worn alternator brushes. To get it back to charging temporarily try rapping (with a baseball bat or chunk of 2x4)on the alternator case, it might get you just enough more brush contact to drive for a few more days. Buy the brush-regulator piece, look up on here the tricks to getting at and breaking free the two screws that attach it, and disconnect your battery before you start.
I wouldn't worry about the dash light weirdness, that seems like a sideshow; go after the most likely cause of trouble. Then if there's still no charge light at startup, replace or re-seat the bulb.
You KNOW it's good? Tested for continuity or just eyeballed the filament?
