southern car = prob easy
rust belt car = easy to nightmare
if all goes well:
put the spacers in
jack up, put on stands, remove wheel
undo lower shock connection and pull the shock off the lower control arm
loosen the tie rod end bolt to finger tight
smack the tie rod end arm on the spindle with a 3 pound hammer, it will pop out after a hit or two
loosen the lower spindle bolt as much as possible; it runs into the CV when almost off. Use the pickle fork to break it free, remove the nut, remove the 2 bolts that hold the ball joint into the control arm; This is where it can be nasty. I've had to torch/drill/ream etc to get the bolts out. on one memorable occasion I had to cut each end to the bolts, then grind or torch the stubs down enough to force te ball joint out of the arm.
clean everything up, put the new joint into the control arm, start the bolts but leave them loose. insert the taper into the hub enough to get the nut started, tighten as much as possible. if the taper stub spins when your tightening you can put a small hyd jack under the ball joint to apply upwards pressure enough to keep it from spinning.
Tighten the control arm bolts.
Repeat for the top.....
