I had similar problems last year in my '85 900T. While driving home one night, long after I had done any tinkering under the hood, every time I touched the brakes the radio would shut off then turn back on, the "Fasten Seatbelts" light would light up and the lights would dim, and it was all intermitent. Gauges were a little weird too. I parked the car, and decided I'd sleep on it before worrying about the problems. Went out the next morning and no start. Not even a click. It took me a few HOURS to find out the negative battery cable had somehow worked loose and fell off. Man, did I feel stupid!! I bet you'll find your problem is something simple like that, or a corroded ground strap.
Also, when I had the typical tail light ground problem, EVERY light would go nuts when I tried to put on the signals, or when I put the car in reverse.
Check your left tail light ground too, although that wouldn't explain the gauges or the radio.
Good luck.
