Get a loop, 24 inches, of seat belt webbing. Get only the male insertable side, and get a few safety pins, and get an awl. Sit in the car...Loop the webbing around the stock safety belt, then through the proper area of the male end you obtained. use safety pins to ensure fit is where you want it. Then you must sew the unit in place. The loop you sew in should move freely about the stock belt, so it will not interfere with function. It is a loop sewn only to itself, and including the male piece. In essence it is a free loop that circles the stock belt. Thiner drivers can still use the stock belt male piece, as there is no need to remove it. There will be no retraction issues as there is no lengthenning. There is no fussing with hardware that can pinch you with plastic edges. The whole thing should take no more than 30 minutes if you sew well, and 1 hour if you go slow. Use an awl, not needle and thread, as the fabric you will be sewing is thick and needs to be further doubled up over itself so that it will ultimately be 4 layers thick. You grew up on a farm, so I bet you know what I am talking about. If not, you would sew leather by hand the same way, like in repairing baseball and hockey mits.
The belt material needs to fitted together like 2 interdigitated C's, with one C upside down. I hope the diagram below translates to the Saabnet BB. X's are one end, O's are the other end, and they hold each other. Stitches go threw from top to bottom to lock them together.
