Switch to a premium full syn only if you want lower engine wear over longer drain intervals. A premium full syn like Mobil 1 or Amsoil will easily last 10k miles in a non-turbo Saab, & will still protect better after 10k miles than a conventional oil after only 3k miles of use.
I switched over to full syn (& extended drains) in my '90 NA C900 when it had 120k miles on it. It currently has 178k miles & I'm running M1 0W-40 for a 20k mile interval.
