Wiring and brakes on the 85 are weak points.I think the 85 motor mounts are noticeably rougher than the latter hydraulic but there are lot of pros and cons on that. I have a 85T trans in my 91 TC.It has new pinion bearings. Switching the pedal assembly in the 91 was more of a pita than 80's cars because of ABS component interference-but doable.The 89- trans have a larger pinion bearing but at high miles they would all be suseptible to needing a rebuild.The later trans may have more syncho problems per some opinions.Any high miles trans that is on the ground should be considered for rebuild,especially if there are any metal particles in the oil and on the drain plug magnet.
