You should be quite capable of 10+ psi charge pressures in conjunction with the 10:1 CR and use of an APC system for detonation protection. This would typically require premium fuel octane to maintain boost/charge pressure consistency. A lower fuel grade may initiate detonation which would be immediately detected via APC rendering a lower charge pressure (to prevent detonation). You could certainly work with a mid to lower fuel grade but may find fluctuation of maximum boost/charge pressures.
There would be no reason to update the factory fuel system relative to this change in CR as you are not increasing the amount of air entering the engine (higher CR, in your case, is currently compressing the same amount of air into a smaller area and creating additional psi).
Any time you increase the pressures within the combustion chambers, you ask more from your head gasket. With a new head gasket and head bolts (which are yield hardware and stretch when torqued), you should find excellent reliability for daily driven use. It is fairly common wherein many shops/mechanics make the mistake of reusing head bolts during gasket changes and this leads to potential premature head gasket failures.
The factory ELRING head gasket and hardware should prove reliable and we have customers in excess of 300 BHP while employing the SAAB head gasket.
