Don't bother with alignment tool

It is almost useless, Townsend's site advises toput the trans in 3rd gear, then pull on the shifter shaft as you tighten the coupling. Works every time! You can use the hole in the shifter shaft (for the alignment tool) to put a pin punch into, to give a little more leverage to pull on the shaft
