The 85 had a "first generation" knock sensor that was updated with a new beefier one in 86.
You can see the difference between the two on the top where the mounting bolt goes through.
The 85 and older is flat on top while the 86 and up have a tapered shape of the black plastic.
I know Saab came out with the new sensor for better knock sensing protection and less interference from other signals.
I think they also had a routing diagram for the white cable so that it would not pick up any disturbing signals. It mentioned to tiewrap the sensor cable to the expansion tank hose in a certain pattern.
