Three questions I need help with:
The replacement alternator on my '87 900s was installed for me as follows: the black ground was spliced into the green/white wire from the coil, the big red B+ wire connected properly, and the blue wire from the coil cut and left dangling. System did not work, plus fried the battery.
Before installing new battery and starting all over to test alt/charging system I need to: 1) connect green/white field wire via spade connector into slot on alt? and 2) connect blue wire via spade to OPS?
What else should I check? And, if the BATT light does not work for some reason (which may be why this setup was attempted, who knows?) how do I troubleshoot that and how does one get to the lamp itself to replace it?
Would appreciate good advice so I can get back to enjoying my car. Thanks a million.
