Thank you - although now I might be a bit more confused. Yup, the original wiring ends are gone. I have no idea what size spade connector should fit into that slot on the back of the alternator, nor a clue as to what else is supposed to go on there. I'm no mechanic by any means - a mother of five, a grandmother of three, and a Saab affectionado! The only things I think I know about how the wiring is supposed to be is from reading about two hundred messages on this BB. The guy who did all this re-work told me NOT to hook up the green wire - batt. light/field wire/DF wire because something is 'messed up in there" and that's why he hooked the ground to though that field wire to the coild ---- to bypass the batt. light.
I dunno, I dunno, I dunno. But if anybody can help me try to straighten this out, it's the learned folks on this site.
