HELP! DOWN TO LAST BRAIN CELL Posted by Don [Email] (#1099) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Don) on Tue, 7 Jun 2005 13:02:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have an '82 900T which has had a gas fumes in cabin problem for the longest time. Since all other aspects of the car are great I want to continue looking for the source of this problem. It is worst after filling up. If the tank is full and in a cool garage you can faintly smell the gas but if you take the car out in the hot sun for a couple hours it gets extremely bad. If you open the trunk and smell around gas tank the fumes don't seem nearly as strong as in the cabin. If you drive with an open window or sunroof the fumes seem to flow in. So I keep everything sealed and the fan running. Other posts I've seen on the subject suggest changing the gas cap. That's not helped. I've also heard about a charcoal cannister which I can't find under the hood or in any manual I have. There's no obvious leaks under the hood, especially around the fuel distributor or fuel filter. Please give me some ideas before my brain gives out or I blow up. Thanks to all.
