Well, I wish I'd printed out ROMO's instructions, as they would have saved me (a) headaches, (b) money and (c) time. Oh well, hindsight...

Here's my experiencw with a 1993 900 Turbo Conv. It wasn't nearly as easy as Bentley made it seem! I followed the book where possible.

1. Detach upper hoses, driver's side then passenger side.
2. Remove the beer can thingy (coil) - no need to bend anything, just take off the clip and rest it on the body.
3. The octopus thing next to it is the APC solenoid. I really don't see how I can leave it, but folks say to leave it alone so I'll try.
4. Take off the distributor cap? Don't see why, but Bentley says it so I do it.
5. Oh, forgot to remove the battery cable. Oh well, whatever.
6. Remove the radiator anchor screws.
7. Try to pull out the radiator. Oh, forgot to unhook the fans from the electric.
8. Unclip the passenger fan's electrical connector. Oh crap, the fan's wire is bound into a bundle with a ziplock thing. Have to cut it in a minute.
9. Try to unclip the driver side fan's electric, reaching down past the Turbo intercooler. Damn, it's tight in there! End up pulling the two wires out of the sockets. That's gonna need fixing.
10. Now try to pull out the radiator like Bentley says. No way. Why?
Hmm - oh! There's another hose, bottom on driver side.
11. Try to reach the pipe clamp, behind the intercooler, under the fan.
Who's bright idea was this arrangement? Ack! OK, this is not happening.
12. Got a small socket on the pipe clamp, no way I'm getting the handle in there. The fan shroud is right on top of it.
13. Remove the intercooler. Wow, that was easy.
14. Still no access.
15. Maybe I should remove the darn fan, I'll have to do it later anyway before I change radiators so why not now. Top screws off -- oh, hell.
Nice place to put another screw: on the bottom! That ain't happenin.
16. Wait, here's a baffle, maybe pulling it back will help.
17. OK, stuck a longneck screwdriver in and seems to be turning the clamp. Cool. Got that hose off!
18. Radiator a little more pliant now. Something's blocking it. The middle hose of the octopus goes to a something-or-other right behind the passenger fan. OK, off comes that hose. Off comes the octopus from the frame, too.
19. Pulling on the radiator (holding onto the fan shrouds) all of a sudden, off pops the driver fan! Apparently (hopefully) the bottom screw was more of a guide screw, since the hole for it on the fan shroud is a slot.
20. Oh, darn. That something-or-other behind the passenger fan has a metal nipple sticking up that is NOT going to let the fan past it.
Gotta pull out the passenger fan too.
21. Unscrew the top screws of the passenger fan (well, one came out, the other sheared off in place) and pull like hell to unstick it from what I now believe to be a guide screw. Oh yeah, the electric is still bound with the zip thing. Just lay it on top of the open distributor (still don't get why that had to come off).
22. OK the only thing left attached are the headlights. Let's hope I don't have to take them out too.
23. THWOK! Radiator pops out of its rubber grommets (still in great
condition) and I'm off to the shop.
24. Wrap up the parts. Hmm, should I plug the holes in the engine with something?

Well, that's my story. Guess I'll follow ROMO's advice and take off the wastegate acuator before reinstalling. I am going to go ahead and do a full service now that I've got stuff apart.

BTW, the intercooler inlet pipe that leads from the exhaust to the intercooler needs replacing because the tail from the hose clamp on the radiator hose was bouncing on it and wore a hole in the darn thing. Make sure your hose clamp has plenty of clearance from this pipe, as it ain't cheap!

Cheers,
Chris
