O2 Sensor Connectors Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Wed, 10 Aug 2005 05:27:07 In Reply to: Got my CEL codes; now what?, Bryce, Tue, 9 Aug 2005 23:00:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On LH 2.4 cars, the O2 sensor connectors are right in front of the passenger-side spring tower. Your's is probably in that neighborhood. At the connector, you can peel back the rubber cover on the single signal cable to get to the spade lug to attach a tester cable.
A cheapie $8 digital multitester is decent enough to tell you whether you're getting some sort of voltage oscillation from the sensor even if it doesn't have good enough time resolution to give you a good representation of the curve.
It looks like the LH 2.4.2 has a few changes from the LH 2.4 programming, so you probably won't get the 3-flash end-of-sequence indication.
It's good that you found that vacuum leak. The PCV nipple should be a little harder to pull out of the rubber valve conver bushing than you describe. The bushings are pretty inexpensive from site sponsors and should also $4 or $5 from the dealer if you don't have a minimum parts order for free shipping.
As far as the sensor itself goes, sometimes they do get contaminated with oil - it is, indeed, in a lousy spot.
