Update--digging into it and swapping vacuum advance uni

Everything in the distributor looks like it's moving fine. I'm not absolutely sure this dist has a centrifugal advance mechanism...or maybe Bentley's test of turning the rotor 1/8 turn against the spring tension is inaccurate.
In any case, I pulled a vacuum advance off my 1978 99 Turbo. Except for the location of the vacuum nipple, the two units appear identical. Installed 'new' unit on 900 and it idles much better. Only marginal improvement under boost.
So this raises the question, are the vacuum advance units for all turbos essentially the same? Could the only difference be the location of the nipple?
The 1983-specific unit is absolutely unavailable at all the sources I checked.
